How long does the Insights trial take to set up?
Five to fifteen minutes. You install the Pulse Connector on the same Windows server that runs Open Dental, sign in with your Pulse account, pick the practices you want to wire up, and the Connector starts shipping aggregates. Your first dashboards populate inside an hour; the trend lines fill in over the next 24-48 hours as we backfill 12 months of history.
Do I need to give Pulse my Open Dental database password?
No. The Pulse Connector uses Open Dental's API Service on port 30223 for writes and a scoped read-only SQL user for reads. We never store your full admin credentials. The OD API key is generated per-install and revocable from the OD UI.
What carriers does Remit support?
Anything that flows ERAs through your clearinghouse (DentalXChange, Vyne, Change Healthcare, Availity). On the bank side, Finicity-backed integrations cover Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase, US Bank, PNC, and most regional banks. If your bank isn't on the list, tell us on the demo call — we add new institutions on customer request.
Can I use Insights without Remit?
Yes. Most customers start with Insights to see how we work, then add Remit once they trust the platform. The Bundle price kicks in the day Remit goes live — no penalty for adding later.
How is Pulse different from Dental Intelligence or Practice by Numbers?
Three things: AI grounded in your data with citations on every claim (not templated 'AI' summaries), automated insurance posting + denial appeals (a real revenue module, not just analytics), and per-organization flat pricing (no per-seat tax). See /comparison for the full row-by-row breakdown.
Does Pulse work for solo practices or only DSOs?
Both. We have a Solo tier ($199/mo for Insights, $499/mo for Bundle) designed for owner-operator practices, a Multi tier (2-5 locations), and DSO pricing for 6+. The product is identical at every tier — the differences are support, SLA, and onboarding intensity.
Where does my data live?
Insights Tier 1 (the default) computes aggregates locally on your OD server and ships only de-identified rollups to our Supabase project in a HIPAA-eligible US region. Patient names, chart numbers, and clinical detail never leave your network. Remit (and a handful of advanced Insights features) require Tier 2, which is gated behind a countersigned BAA and explicit configuration. See /security for the full data-flow diagram.
What happens if I want to leave?
The Pulse Connector ships a one-click uninstall path that wipes our access to your network and revokes the mTLS cert server-side. Your data exports cleanly to CSV. Insights is 30-day notice; Remit is 60-day notice because we have to hand back your EFT enrollments cleanly. No multi-year lock-ins.
